Typhoon Haiyan slammed into the Philippines on Friday (8 November), causing catastrophic damage. It is the strongest storm ever to make landfall, hitting an area where thousands of people are already homeless after an earthquake in mid-October. The 300-mile wide typhoon – locally known as Yolanda – has left a trail of destruction with thousands feared dead.
When we first heard about the Authors for the Philippines initiative by Keris Stainton, to help raise funds for all in the Philippines whose lives and families have been overwhelmed in such tragic fashion, Sara and I couldn’t help but contribute in our own small way. We are offering editorial critiques in return for a highest bid donation (direct to the Red Cross) to help all who are suffering in the Philippines.
But we are just two of very, very many people – authors, illustrators, agents, editors, publishers, so many people involved in the publishing world who are generously donating a whole range of things: whether it is books, signed proofs, original artwork, a character named after you, invitations to book launches, manuscript critiques, mentoring – the list is endless, and so creative. Do please take a look at the link and either bid or donate if you can.
